After 20 years of writing tutorials and masterclasses for Electronic Musician, Keyboard, and Music Radar, I’ve posted a lot of instructional content since I redid this site in 2017. To make the blog easier to navigate for new visitors, I’ve collected all of my Music Radar and Electronic Musician guides into a single directory post.
Below are direct links to each of the masterclasses on my blog, some of which include downloadable presets and examples. Have at it!
I spent much of 2020 designing presets for the Korg OpSix, so in 2021, Korg asked me to do a short series of Patch Of The Week tutorials for creating your own original sounds on this synth.
This playlist on my YouTube channel contains all five tutorials, ranging from beginner tips to recreating famous sounds like the DX-100 “Solid Bass”.
Now that we’ve had over a month of Watch+Learn, it’s time to put together an index of these tutorials and presets.
Below is a direct link to the YouTube playlist for subscribing.
Here are all the tutorials and presets as of May 22, 2020.
If you’ve read the specs, Korg’s new Prologue polysynth is far more complex than either of its siblings—the Minilogue and Monologue—though it shares their heritage. Consequently, the Prologue’s analog side is similar, but with a few notable upgrades.
The Prologue’s digital side, however, has some groundbreaking innovations. This Music Radar Master Class takes a close look at its synthesis engine and explains how to make the most of it.

One of my biggest talks at the 2017 Ableton Loop conference was an in-depth studio session on the details of FM synthesis. Having designed presets for Operator since before it was released in 2004, I can honestly say that I have an intimate relationship with its capabilities.
This masterclass for Music Radar revisits some of the topics from my Loop session - and goes deep into the possibilities of this powerful FM and additive synth. Enjoy!
